The Senior School girls are having picnics outside in the quad. Music is drifting up from Mr Rycraft’s Rock Jam classes. Shouts rise up from the hockey pitches where the PE teachers are putting the girls through their paces. In the Concourse, there’s a rehearsal for the musical with Ms Brehony. The Junior School girls are working away, noting the flora and fauna of Alex in the meadow and at the bug hotel. There is a happy buzz of laughter and chat. Welcome to Alex.
Choosing the right school for your daughter is not an insignificant decision. Our website aims to give you some feel for all that Alex is - but that is a near impossible task! So once you have explored our website and our social media channels, we would be very happy to welcome you to our Open Day, answer your questions, chat with you on the phone or, when it is safe, welcome you to visit the College Campus. A tour of our playing fields, Res (our Boarding House), the Senior School, the Junior School and the Preschool will allow you to feel for yourself the transformative experience that is Alexandra College.
Call In to See Us or We Could Chat on the Phone
Alexandra College is a school committed to learning, so we know there are as many different learning styles as there are students. The same goes for how parents like to access and consider information. We are happy to talk on the phone, chat by email, invite you to browse our Virtual Tour and Information, or welcome you to come and see for yourself or to send a trusted friend who is living within easier reach of the school.
The Principal of Alexandra College, Barbara Ennis; the Head of the Junior School, Avril Lamplugh; and our Admissions Officers Ellen Dooley and Carol Higgins are always pleased to talk to prospective parents. While current public health measures prevent us from welcoming you to our Campus in person just now, we would be happy to schedule a call or a quick virtual tour and to answer any questions you may have.
Please use our Admissions Enquiry Form to schedule a call or to let us know how we can help you to get the information you need about the school in the way that suits you best. A member of the admissions team will be in touch with you soon.
Prospective Parents Newsletter
We know that many parents start researching schools early so that they can plan their daughter’s education carefully. If you are not yet ready to apply but would like to keep up to date with the College, please subscribe to our prospective parents newsletter. We will be pleased to send you College news from time to time as well as information about our admissions process and invitations to our Open Day and to other College events.
A Global Community in a Local Setting
Alexandra College is a vibrant learning community including students from all over Ireland and the world. We are experts at helping each international student to feel welcome quickly and to contribute to College life in her own way.
To which class should we apply?
This table shows you the typical age in each class. If you are unsure about what class you should apply for, please contact our Admissions Team who will help you. If you or your daughter is new to the Irish education system you will find helpful information here.
Annually, our Open Day is a lovely way for interested parents and students to experience what Alex is all about. Our 1st Years and 6th Class students thrive on guiding visitors around the Campus and telling them about what they are learning and the fun they are having. It is a busy day full of music, drama, sport, science experiments, robots, turns in the playground, meeting teachers, and the beginnings of new friendships. The day starts with talks from Barbara Ennis, our College Principal; Avril Lamplugh, our Head of Junior School and from our Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl. The girls take it from there, hosting tours of the Junior School, Senior School, Residence, Sports Facilities, Music, Drama, Science Buildings and playing fields.
This year given public health restrictions we hosted a Virtual Open Day for prospective parents and students. You can browse it here:
Attendance at Open Day is not a condition of admission.
