Living & Learning in Ireland
Ireland is a young, vibrant, generous and safe country. The ‘land of saints and scholars’ Ireland has a deep love of literature, music and theatre and an innovative spirit in science and technology.
- Ireland is the most youthful member state in the EU 27: people aged 0-29 years accounted for nearly 4 out of every 10 inhabitants at the start of 2019. It is a fun place for young people to be.
- Ireland is consistently ranked in the top 5 countries in the UNDP Human Development Index. Last year Ireland ranked second in the world.
- On the Good Country Index which measures what each country on earth contributes to the common good of humanity, and what it takes away, relative to its size, Ireland topped the list in its first year. We are now the third highest country on the index.
The Irish Education System and Curriculum
The Irish Education System consists of primary (Junior) school from ages 3 to 12, and secondary (Senior) school from about 12 to 18.
Discover You - Our Transition Year Programme
Transition Year or TY, is unique to Ireland. In 4th Year, free from external exam pressure, the girls can go past the acquisition of knowledge to consider who they want to be in the world and what they need to learn, think about, work hard at, and do so that they can live a good life well.
We focus on reflective learning and on giving the girls the space to take responsibility for their own lifelong development. We help the girls to develop the social skills they need to work collaboratively and constructively.
Getting Ready For University Programme
Our Residential University and College Preparation Programme is a two year programme in 5th and 6th Year. From the first day of 5th Year, the girls learn to focus on the time available to them so that they actively make the most of their last two years at school while also preparing well for their Leaving Certificate (final) exams, choosing a college or university, and choosing a particular course of study.
Our Admissions team is happy to talk to HR Business Partners, recruiters and relocation support in organisations whose employees are considering a move to Ireland. We understand that finding the right school is a key factor in deciding whether to move your family for career reasons. Please contact Admissions to arrange a conversation or meeting.
