Writers in Training
In KG Lower, we have completed our Jolly Phonics programme and have really enjoyed revising all of our sounds and tricky words. We have been playing fun games with partners like "Tricky Word Splat" and "Flip a word". We take turns reading words and we write down the words we get correct. We love having fun with reading! We also started to write our own stories using labelled pictures. Take a look at our most recent publication "The Bedroom" where we used our neatest writing and colouring to present our stories for all to see on our window. We can't wait to write more stories!

J1 Trip to the Zoo
J1 have been waiting so long to go on their school tour. They were counting down the days since the start of the month and the day finally came. We were unsure about the weather at the beginning of the day but it cleared up and became a really beautiful and excellent day to visit Dublin Zoo. As a teacher I have been there a few times and I have to say the J1 girls couldn’t have been luckier. The sun shone, we had lots of fun and we saw nearly every single animal.
The girls learned lots of interesting facts and they also learned about the conservation efforts Dublin Zoo is making to stop a lot of these animals from going extinct.
The girls were excellent from start to finish. Well done J1!

J3 and J4 Funtasia Trip
J3 and J4 went on their school trip to Funtasia this week. We went on lots of exciting and epic water slides. The most fun slides were the Boomerang and the Super Bowl. On the Boomerang, the incline was so steep, and you went super fast! On the Super Bowl, you spun around a massive bowl, and then got propelled backwards into a hole and shot down into the water. We had loads of fun!
The J3 and J4 classes had a ball on their end of year school trip to Funtasia. The bus trip to Drogheda seemed endless as the girls just couldn’t wait to get into the water park. There were over 200 water-based activities to choose from and water slides of all sizes for the thrill-seekers of the group. It didn’t disappoint and the girls came out full of exciting stories of the fun they’d had! What a super day out!

When KG Upper Stepped into an Amazing Art Experience at the RDS!
Ms Boyd, Ms Smith and the Kg Uppers really enjoyed an incredible new experience - stepping into multi-sensory and contemporary digital artworks on display at the RDS.
The projection show immersed and transported us through an array of creative lights, images, music and famous paintings by Van Gogh. We then moved into a mesmerising ‘Infinity Room’ before some time to draw and colour on the interactive art wall.
We all agreed this memorable outing and exhibition was a wonderfully creative spectacle and we would highly recommend a visit!
Since returning to the classroom - we have all been inspired by the experience, learning more about Van Gogh and his work and drawing his portrait in our sketch books.
Super fun, work, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour, Kg Upper! Thank you and well done!
Ms Boyd and Ms Smith ;-)
KG Upper at the Van Gogh Experience 2022
Van Gogh Exhibition
The J3 classes attended the Van Gogh immersive experience in the RDS. We travelled to and from the trip by bus.
Van Gogh’s work was displayed digitally through pictures and projections of videos on screen, surrounding the room and on the floors also. The exhibit displayed his life, his techniques and his artistic creations which included; Sunflowers, The Starry Night, Almond Blossoms, The Night Café and many more.
After the exhibit, the girls got to enter a room surrounded in mirrors which was great fun! They had a great time and we would highly recommend the experience to others!
