Res Round-Up May 2026
News from The Hermione
End of another year in Res
Ms Thompson, Ms Diffley and all the Res staff would like to sincerely thank all of our boarder parents and guardians for the wonderful support you have given throughout the year - not only to the girls, but also to us as staff. Your kindness, encouragement, and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
We would also like to wish our 3rd and 6th Year students every success in their upcoming State examinations. We will be with them every step of the way and will continue to support and encourage them throughout the exam season.
To those girls who were with us for just one year, we wish you every success and happiness in the future. It was a pleasure having you as part of the Res community, and we hope you will come back to visit us again sometime.
We wish everyone a lovely summer and hope you enjoy a well-deserved rest over the holidays. We look forward to welcoming you back next year!
Res Prefects
Another exciting development this year was the election of the new Res prefects. This is a very important position of responsibility within Res, and we are delighted with the excellent group of girls chosen for the role. To mark the occasion, both the outgoing and incoming prefects enjoyed a special party in the Senior Common Room, providing a lovely opportunity to celebrate together. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the outgoing prefects for the fantastic job they did representing Res throughout the year, and we wish the new prefects the very best of luck as they take on their new responsibilities.
Cullen Sheep Farm
We have been blessed with beautiful weather over the past few weeks, making it the perfect time for outdoor trips and activities. The girls recently enjoyed a wonderful day out at Cullens Sheep Farm in Co. Wicklow, where they learned all about sheep farming and had the chance to see a working sheepdog in action. As it is springtime, they also delighted in petting the lambs. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for everyone.
National Stud and Japanese Gardens
Another fantastic day out was our visit to the National Stud and Japanese Gardens. As horse racing is such an important part of Irish culture, the girls were delighted to experience the heart of it all. They learned about thoroughbred horses and were especially excited to see some newborn foals. The trip concluded with a peaceful stroll through the beautiful Japanese Gardens, regarded as some of the finest in Ireland.
Emerald Park
The final trip of the year for the boarders was to Emerald Park, one of Ireland’s largest outdoor theme parks. The girls enjoyed an exciting day experiencing the thrilling rides and exploring the adjoining zoo. It was a wonderful way to round off the year — a fun-filled day that will leave many happy memories for all involved.
