Mock Exams Timetables

Exam Procedures

  • Please take careful note of the start time and location of each examination. Most examinations, but not all, will take place in the Study Hall. 
  • Pencils, pens etc. must be brought into the examination centre either in a see-through pencil case, a zip-lock bag, or carried in your hand. No regular pencil cases are allowed. 
  • Your mobile phone must be switched off, or placed in Airplane mode, and locked in your Yondr pouch. You must bring your locked Yondr pouch into your exam, and place it on your desk. 
  • Bring your locked Yondr pouch, name sign, and tissues, if required.
  • Do not forget your calculator if required, as there are none available in the examination centre for your use.
  • Silence is required at all times in the examination centre. This includes entering and leaving the centre. 
  • While seated in the examination centre, you must face forward at all times. 
  • If you need more paper, or require the attention of one of the supervising teachers for any reason, you must stay in your seat and raise your hand quietly.
  • The supervising teachers will not be able to help you with your examination. Do not ask.
  • You must not leave your seat until told to do so at the end of the examination.
  • You may not go to the toilet during the examination, except in a very real emergency. You may never go to the toilet during the first and last 30 minutes of an examination. 
  • You may not leave the examination centre early if you are finished.
  • When your examination is over, please remember that classes and other examinations may be continuing for others students. Please be quiet and considerate of others.

For the attention of students whose first language is not English or Irish

The use of bilingual translation dictionaries in the examinations is allowed.

Bilingual translation dictionaries between the candidate’s first language and English or Irish (i.e. without explanation of terms/definition) are permitted. Electronic bilingual dictionaries, translators, wordlists or glossaries, are not permitted.

Subjects in which the use of dictionaries are not permitted:

The use of bilingual dictionaries is not permitted in the case of examinations in the following subjects:

  • English
  • Irish
  • The candidate’s first language. For example, a candidate whose first language is French will not be permitted to use the dictionary in the French examination.
  • A language closely related to the candidate’s first language.

You must bring your own dictionary and you must show it to any supervising teacher who requests to examine it in the examination centre.
